Hitty Camp Registration

Calling all Hittys who can't wait to attend …
CAMP WANNA DO

Richmond, Virginia - 2009

Director, Happy Herbert
Activities Director & Head Counselor, Hitty Gracious

The first annual session of Camp Wanna Do (’cause Hittys wanna do everything!) will run from Sunday, July 19 – Sunday, July 26, 2009. Fee for camp session is $30.00 per camper due on arrival, which includes first class transportation home with travel insurance, and a $1.00 reservation fee, payable with application. Campers should plan to board the bus from home in time to arrive no later than Friday, July 17. Early arrivals will be adequately housed.

This year’s theme is “We Like it Wild” (nature), but the session includes traditional camp activities, such as singing, crafts, hiking, orienteering, cookouts, water fun, and a very special event to take place on the final night involving camper swaps. Camp is limited to 12 this year, and this number includes two camperships for those unable to afford the full fees (camperships cover everything except $1.00 reservation fee and $10.00 for transportation/insurance home: Total, $11.00).

In attendance will be experienced full sized Camp Director, Happy Herbert, and Hitty-sized Activities Director, counselors, and “Doc,” the camp nurse (just in case). All campers will be housed on comfortable cots in tents on the grounds. Bedding will be provided and meals will be in the main shelter, except for pack-outs or cook-outs. All activities will be appropriately supervised.

Campers will receive take-home items including the camp “uniform” and several other camp-style goodies (hints will be forthcoming for those who sign up). Each camper Mom or Dad will also receive a CD filled with pictures of the camp week that will arrive home with the camper, e-mailed letters home from their camper at least twice a week, and exclusive early access to pictures and information about the activities taking place during the week through this blog, which will be blocked to others once registration for the year is complete on July 1.

Please send Swaps (clearly labeled as such) with your camper, an identical one for each camper in attendance (12 maximum this year – one swap you send will come back home with your own camper). These should be small and appropriate to the camp theme. You may send extras for camp staff if you wish, but that’s totally up to you and NOT necessary.

Postal bus boarding for home will be on Monday, July 27. All campers will be insured for safe passage with confirmation of home delivery in a prompt manner. Fees payable upon camper arrival, but you must reserve your place by applying now. Director, Happy Herbert, has had many years of experience running resident Girl Scout summer camps at three locations in two states.

Registration is now open but closes on July 1, 2009. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 6, but only a couple of spaces remain. Be sure to e-mail first to campwannado@gmail.com. Remember, accommodations are limited. Contact Happy at sherbert@richmond.edu with any questions and to request application, campership form, and my snail mailing address. Reservations cannot be confirmed until the paper work and your buck is physically in my hands. First come, first served, as they say.

Let the summer fun begin!!!!!
